Stay Fresh All Day With This Homemade Deodorant

Deodorants! There are just so many kinds to choose from in the market today- from spray, roll-ons, powder, gel, solids… you name it! Unfortunately, whichever type you prefer, you still won’t get away from the nasty chemicals that most of these commercial deodorants have.

Normally, store-bought deodorants contain parabens, triclosan, phthalates, propylene glycol, and aluminum, all of which are known to cause harm to our bodies. You might think that you’re only using a minute, almost inconsiderable amount, but take into consideration that you’re using it daily in the course of your lifetime. Ugh!

I sure wouldn’t risk it, would you? Good thing our team of aromatherapists came up with B.O. Be Gone Natural Deodorant. Infused with our very own B.O. Be Gone Essential Oil Blend, a special blend created to naturally get rid of body odor, you can be confident to always feel and smell fresh without those bad chemicals lurking around.

Solid Coconut Oil

To achieve a balm-like consistency for easy application, we used solid coconut oil. Coconut oil has natural antibacterial properties which make it perfect for this recipe. It helps kill fungi, yeast, and bacteria. Also, the moisturizing effect of coconut oil keeps your underarms from getting dried out by the cornstarch and baking soda!

Beeswax

For a more solid-textured deodorant balm, a little beeswax does the trick. So, if you want your deodorant to be creamier, you can lessen the added beeswax. Similar to coconut oil, it also keeps your underarms from drying out.

B.O Be Gone Essential Oil Blend

Simply Earth’s special blend for body odor, B.O Be Gone Essential Oil Blend is a combination of Patchouli, Ylang-Ylang, Sandalwood, Lavender, and Sweet Orange Essential Oils. Say goodbye to harmful deodorant chemicals–this blend eliminates body odor effectively and naturally!

Cornstarch

Cornstarch’s natural ability to trap and absorb moisture/sweat makes it a wonderful addition to this deodorant recipe. It helps keep your underarms dry so bacteria can’t break down sweat and develop an odor.

Baking Soda

Like cornstarch, baking soda is also very effective in absorbing moisture and keeping underarms dry. It is a common ingredient in natural deodorants since it contains natural minerals that fight odor-causing bacteria.

Zinc Oxide

You may already know that you can use zinc oxide as a nontoxic sunscreen (check out our sunscreen recipe here), but did you know it also contains antibacterial qualities that make it great for natural deodorants? It reduces odor-causing bacteria, hence eliminating body odor! Plus, zinc oxide has wondrous skin-soothing properties too! Pretty amazing, right?
