What’s the Science Behind This Oil?

Estragole

Estragole is a natural organic compound and a component of various trees and plants, including turpentine (pine oil), anise, fennel, bay, tarragon, and basil. It is used in the preparation of fragrances.

Linalool

Linalool is a naturally occurring component found in many flowers and spice plants. It has multiple commercial applications, mostly based on its pleasant scent (floral, with a touch of spiciness). It has uses in manufacturing soaps, fragrances, food additives as flavors, household products, and insecticides.

Limonene

Limonene is a colorless liquid and is the major component in the oil of citrus fruit peels. Its D-isomer occurs more commonly in nature as the fragrance of oranges, and is a flavoring agent in food manufacturing while the less common l-isomer has a piny, turpentine-like odor, and is found in the edible parts of such plants as caraway, dill, and bergamot orange plants.
