Finding it hard to keep the kids calm and entertained while on a long road trip?
Indeed, long road trips can take a toll on adults and children alike. During travels, I make sure I and my family are comfortable. One way to do this is to make use of aromatherapy to ease discomforts. Here is my go-to recipe: Road Trip Essential Oil Roll-On infused with calming essential oils.
What’s best about this recipe is that it uses essential oils that are safe for kids. Remember, a troubled child during travels will also cause you trouble. Try this roll-on recipe the next time you hit the road to make sure your travel is smooth and fun!

What’s in This Road Trip Roll-On Recipe
Spearmint Essential Oil
Obviously, the sweet minty aroma of Spearmint Essential Oil is uplifting and stimulating. This aroma promotes relaxation and alleviates stress1 helping make a better road trip experience. It also contains natural chemical compounds that can help ease nausea and vomiting2.
Homebody Essential Oil Blend
Infused with Amyris, Copaiba, Ho Wood, and Vetiver Essential Oils, Homebody Blend is so calming! The aroma of the oils really blends well together and forms a wonderful scent that is both calming and uplifting.
Fractionated Coconut Oil
You can choose your preferred carrier oil to dilute the essential oils in this recipe. However, we really recommend using fractionated coconut oil because of its colorless and odorless nature. It has no added aroma that can interfere with the aromatic properties of the essential oils.
Things to Remember When Using This Roll-On
Always dilute an essential oil when using it on the skin. This essential oil recipe is unlikely to cause skin irritation when diluted properly. If the oil has been oxidized (left with the cap off for long periods of time) it is more likely to cause skin irritation. Check out this dilution chart for diluting this essential oil properly.
This recipe is generally safe to use if you are pregnant. Consult your doctor prior to use.
This essential oil recipe is safe to use with kids age 10+. To use it with kids under this age, use 2 total drops of essential oil in your roll-on.
