What I Love About This Reed Diffuser Recipe

I always appreciate how low-maintenance reed diffusers are. For this recipe, I love the combinations of the aromas of the essential oils. They all blend well together and form a very soothing scent that never ceases to give me that sense of peace.

What’s in This Lights Out Reed Diffuser Recipe

Balsam Fir Essential Oil

Balsam Fir Essential Oil has a very calming, fresh, softly balsamic aroma. No wonder Native Americans used to stuff their pillows with dried fir needles. Balsam Fir has been used to promote sleep throughout history for a reason.

Copaiba Essential Oil

The warm and rich honey-like aroma of Copaiba Essential Oil is very calming and soothing. It is especially helpful for someone with night terrors as it helps ease feelings of nervousness and worry.

Juniper Berry Essential Oil

Juniper Berry Essential Oil has a sweet aromatic pine scent that adds freshness to your room to make it more conducive for rest. Like Copaiba, it also helps calm nervous tensions so you’ll feel more rested and relaxed before sleep.

Water

Since water is more easily absorbed by the reed than the essential oils, we used water as the main base of this recipe to help carry the oil up through the reeds and diffuse its subtle aroma.

Solubilizer

The solubilizer allows the essential oils to mix with the water so that they can be pushed up through the reeds. Naturally, oils and water don’t mix. Thanks to solubilizers, oils can be evenly dispersed through the water mixture.

Reeds

The reeds soak up the water and oil mixture and act as a natural diffuser. No flames, plugs, or batteries. This is a zero-effort diffusing technique.

Small Jar or Vase

To hold the recipe, use a small jar or vase. Make sure that the neck of your container is narrow enough so the fragrance of the essential oils will be dispersed through the reed and not be evaporated into the air.
