Make Your Body Smell Fresh with This DIY Deodorizing Spray

The crisp, cozy, and spicy aromas of fall put autumn at the top of my seasonal smells list. While I’m big into the beauty in spring, the holidays in winter, and the activities in summer, nothing can compete with the cuddle-inducing vibes that fall fragrances give off.

While fall’s seasonal smells are great, fall’s season of life is a little less relaxing. September is generally the start of all things crazy: the school year, sports seasons, club launches, you name it.

When life starts going all over the place, count on essential oils to keep yourself smelling fresh. Certain essential oils have anti-odor properties that’ll power through just about anything. Once you add these oils to your own DIY deodorizing spray using this Smell Fresh Boy Spray recipe, you’ll have a stink-fighting secret weapon for those days that require you to freshen up as you go.

Hi! Katie here, certified aromatherapist and creator of our Essential Oil Recipe Box, which includes this recipe this month.

I can take this spray with me anywhere. Whether I am heading somewhere after a quick workout or need a freshening up after traveling, this spray makes me smell fresh and clean. I even like to use it on the blankets that I keep in the basement to freshen them up between washes.

Defender Essential Oil Blend

Did I mention that this body spray not only smells great but also fights off germs? The Defender Essential Oil Blend combines cinnamon, rosemary, lemon, eucalyptus, and clove. This immunity-boosting dream team allows your body spray to double as a handy DIY air freshener spray that knocks out germs as it refreshes any smelly room or stinky object.

Blood Orange Essential Oil

You’re familiar with sugar and spice, but have you ever heard of citrus and spice? The fresh and slightly tangy aroma of Blood Orange Essential Oil gives an uplifting tone to the warm fragrance of the defender blend. This oil also has its own cleansing and disinfectant properties!

Fractionated Coconut Oil

In order to keep your DIY deodorizing body spray safe, you’ll use fractionated coconut oil to dilute this recipe’s essential oils.

Distilled Water

Distilled water also helps you safely dilute your recipe’s essential oils.

Always dilute an essential oil when using it on the skin. This essential oil recipe is unlikely to cause skin irritation when diluted properly. If the oil has been oxidized (left with the cap off for long periods of time) it is more likely to cause skin irritation. Check out this dilution chart for diluting this essential oil properly.

The lemon essential oil in the Defender Essential Oil Blend poses a small risk of phototoxicity.

Some essential oil recipes are not generally safe to use if you are pregnant. Consult your doctor prior to use.

Because it contains the Defender Essential Oil Blend, avoid using your Smell Fresh Body Spray if you have epilepsy, have high blood pressure, or use anticoagulant and/or antidepressant medication. This blend may also irritate mucus membranes.

Because of the presence of bergaptene, a naturally occurring organic chemical, in blood orange essential oil, consult a physician prior to using this odor-fighting spray.
