Recently, the rise of Yoga’s popularity has hit the ceiling. There are a lot of Yoga studios popping up everywhere! Years ago, it had a reputation of being a workout for hippies – but today, everyone is loving how a calming experience can build stronger muscles and achieve better balance. Instead of lighting incense sticks, yoga teachers today use essential oils to help their students perform better in their asanas, or the physical poses that help a practitioner learn more about their body and its functions.
If you’re a Yoga practitioner yourself, finding the best essential oils are a must. Here’s a list of oils that will help you make every asana feel like Savasana.
Best Essential Oils for Yoga
Lavender Essential Oil
Lavender is known for its calming properties and is every yogi’s best friend. It helps alleviate anxiety, stress and depression. It is best used for winding down after doing all those challenging poses. To use lavender oil during your yoga class, you can place one drop in your palms then rub them together. Tent your hands over the nose and take 3 deep breaths before settling in savasana.
Peace & Quiet Essential Oil Blend
Peace & Quiet is Simply Earth’s special blend of orange, lime, cedarwood and frankincense and is a great aid when trying to find a serenity. The citrus tones are both relaxing and refreshing at the same time – something you’ll look for when you’re down on the mat. If you’re looking to be more relaxed, have less stress and improve your emotional health, this one’s for you. During yoga practice, you can use your diffuser. Just drop 3-4 of Peace & Quiet Essential Oil Blend for a peaceful and calm session.
Chamomile Essential Oil
German Chamomile, just like lavender, is famous for its ability to help eliminate feelings of sadness and even depression. It’s a great calming essential oil for everyone including those who practice yoga. It also helps decrease irritability and over thinking – something you don’t want when you’re on the mat.
For a relaxing end to your yoga class, you can diffuse 3 drops of lavender, 3 drops of chamomile and 1 drop of vetiver. You’ll feel more relaxed and even doze off after!
