Oatmeal Cookie Body Sugar Scrub Recipe

Exfoliating in the winter time is extra important.

During winter, the cold, dry air dehydrates the skin and makes skin cells die faster. To promote healthy skin cell regrowth, it is recommended to exfoliate two to three times per week. What better way to exfoliate than using an all-natural, sugar-based scrub recipe powered by essential oils?

Simply Earth’s Oatmeal Cookie Body Sugar Scrub is the perfect solution! This toxin-free sugar scrub exfoliates your skin and leaves it nourished and healthy. Personalize this gift for yourself or a friend by decorating a jar to store the scrub!

What I Love About This Body Sugar Scrub Recipe

body sugar scrub

This Oatmeal Cookie Sugar Scrub feels great on my skin, smells incredibly good (and yummy, but resists the urge to bite, LOL), and works like magic. The scrub is gentle on my skin and leaves it looking and feeling clean, nourished, and fresh.

What’s in This Oatmeal Cookie Sugar Scrub Recipe?

Oatmeal

Oatmeal offers tons of great benefits for the skin. It soothes dry, flaky, and itchy skin which is especially helpful if you have conditions like Eczema1 and Psoriasis2. Oatmeal exfoliates gently leaving skin looking and feeling soft and supple.

Solid Coconut Oil

The Solid Coconut Oil in this recipe dilutes the essential oils to make it safe for topical use. Aside from being a carrier oil, we all know that coconut oil is amazing for the skin. It also keeps to bind the ingredients together in a loose cookie dough-like consistency, making it easier and tidier to use.

Honey (optional)

For this recipe, you can also add other natural ingredients that can benefit your skin like honey. Like oatmeal, honey is also helpful in easing symptoms of Eczema and Psoriasis. Honey can also be used for treating acne, and it is a gentle, natural exfoliator making it perfect for this recipe.

Brown Sugar

The texture of brown sugar crystals makes it a great tool for clearing away dead skin cells. Sugar is also a natural humectant which means it helps draw and seal moisture to your skin.

Candy Cane Essential Oil Blend

Adding Candy Cane Essential Oil Blend to this recipe is perfect for the holiday cheer! Infused with Spearmint, Frankincense, Orange, and Lemon Essential Oils, this blend provides an uplifting aroma for a luxurious shower experience.

Note: some of the oils in this blend are phototoxic. This means it can cause skin to be extremely sensitive sunlight. In the amounts used in this recipe, Candy Cane Essential Oil is unlikely to have phototoxic effects. However, use caution before using this recipe and spending time in direct sunlight.

Things to Remember When Using This Recipe

Always dilute an essential oil when using it on the skin. This essential oil recipe is unlikely to cause skin irritation when diluted properly. If the oil has oxidized (been left with the cap off for long periods of time,) it is more likely to cause skin irritation. Check out this dilution chart for diluting this essential oil properly.

If you are pregnant, consult your doctor prior to use.

This recipe is safe to use with kids aged 2+.
