What’s in This Shaving Soap Recipe?

Melt & Pour Soap Base

Melt & pour soap base is a great ingredient for creating a wet shaving soap recipe. With its easy-to-use format, you can create a batch in no time. Its ability to draw out moisture from the blade while providing a gentle cushion makes it an ideal choice for any DIY wet shave enthusiast.

Distilled Water

One of the most important ingredients for achieving a superb shave is distilled water. Distilled water provides the perfect balance between denseness and foaminess, making it an ideal ingredient for wet shaving soaps.

Love Essential Oil Blend

Aromatherapy is a unique and effective way of impacting our moods and emotions. Love essential oil blend can be used in wet shaving soap recipes to create an atmosphere of love and romance. Not only it connects us to the things we love, but it also provides a calming floral aroma that relaxes the body and soothes the soul.

Geogard ECT Preservative (Optional)

Geogard ECT is a natural preservative that is water-soluble and effective in preserving personal care products. With this ingredient, users can be assured that their shaving soaps can effectively resist naturally occurring bacteria or other organisms in order to maintain product quality.

Things to Remember When Using This Recipe

Always dilute an essential oil when using it on the skin. This essential oil recipe is unlikely to cause skin irritation when diluted properly. If the oil has been oxidized (left with the cap off for long periods of time) it is more likely to cause skin irritation. Check out this dilution chart for diluting this essential oil properly.

If you are pregnant, consult your doctor prior to use.

How to Modify Your Recipe

Modifying a wet shaving soap recipe is a great way to customize your shave experience.

  1. Liquid oils such as avocado oil or sweet almond oil can be added for a richer and more complex lather.
  2. Add natural clay, like kaolin, bentonite, or sea clay, for an extra slip that helps glide a razor across the skin for a closer shave. Clays also have skin-purifying properties that can improve acne and blemish-prone areas.
  3. Top it off with an essential oil or blend of your choice to set your preferred fragrance and you will have a fantastic custom wet shaving soap!
