How To Make Labels WITHOUT A PRINTER

After spending enough time creating your own natural products, you might be left with multiple bottles and containers with unknown contents in them. Is it a lotion? A shampoo? A dog shampoo? Hmmm? This is why product and ingredient labeling is extremely important.

While there are many ways to make labels, in this blog, you will learn how to make labels without a printer. No printer? No problem indeed.

Ways To Make Labels Without A Printer

1. Labels + Permanent Marker

Use a waterproof label sheet from the store. Simply write out your labels using permanent ink and place them directly on the bottle. One downside of this method is over time the ink tends to wear off.

To help preserve your labels, you can try spraying them with acrylic sealer spray or cover them with clear tape.

2. Label Maker

You can also use a label maker to make your own labels. Be sure to use waterproof labels in your device as these generally work better with oils.

If you are using a label maker that uses ink, be sure to help preserve your label using an acrylic spray sealer or cover the label with clear tape.

3. Essential Oil Cap Stickers

A popular way to label essential oil blends and roll ons is to use essential oil cap stickers. These handy stickers make it easy to put the oils in your recipe onto your container.

4. Use a Local Printer

Support a local business by designing your own labels (font, information, etc.) and have them printed locally. Your area likely has a small business printer as well as larger office stores that offer this service. I got these printed at our local printer for our face mask recipes for less than $1.00. Prices will vary depending on your local service.

Ask your printer what kinds of paper are available for printing and make your choice on what works best for your project.

5. Buy Generic Labels

There are many beautiful labels already designed and available at local craft stores and online retailers. When using these, make sure you have a way to reference the recipe you used with the label.

6. DIY Clear Label Hack

This is a fun hack that you can use to label your recipes. Draw your design on a piece of parchment paper using colored pencils. Since the parchment paper is somewhat transparent, you can even place a design behind it to trace.

Cover your design with clear packaging tape, putting it on as smoothly as possible and taking care that no dust or particles get on the tape in the process.

Trim your design as closely as possible to the colored pencil. Then clean the surface of the container you are using with rubbing alcohol and a paper towel.

Once your container is clean, remove the parchment paper backing and attach your label to your container.

Tip: This method seems to work best with colored pencils (not markers, pens, crayons, etc.)
