Growing up we had always had dogs and kept their dog beds in the entryway of our house. Even if the dogs were clean, somehow those dog beds would cause the whole room to smell like dog. People coming in were greeted with an onset of dog smell and was something my mom was always self-conscious about (I was more of a “Who wouldn’t want to be greeted by the smell of a dog?” kinda person).
Since purchasing our first home, I’ve known what it means to be self-conscious about your house. Even though we don’t have any pets (cough, cough, Lee when can we get a dog?), I can definitely relate to my mom’s fear that we would be known as the house that smelled like dog.
No one wants to be known as having the house that smells like an animal (yes, cat houses can have a very definite smell as well). That’s why we are harnessing the deodorizing power of Ginger Essential Oil along with our Peace and Quiet Blend to create the best Pet Odor Eliminator Spray.
Note to Cat Owners: Cat’s aren’t always fans of citrus oils. Our Peace and Quiet Blend contains Lime and Sweet Orange Essential Oils. See how your cat reacts to this blend before using this recipe. If your cat turns out not to like this blend, I recommend replacing the Peace and Quiet Blend in this recipe with Juniper Berry or Citronella Essential Oil.
For this recipe you will need:
- 10 drops Ginger Essential Oil
- 20 drops Peace and Quiet Essential Oil Blend
- 2 oz Distilled Water
- 2 oz Spray Bottle
In a 2-ounce spray bottle, add 10 drops of Ginger Essential Oil.
Next, add 20 drops of Peace and Quiet Essential Oil Blend.
Fill it up with distilled water.
And give it a shake to mix them all together!
To use, shake bottle then spray to refresh a room, pet bed, or other surfaces that tend to get stinky. Cats may not like our Peace and Quiet Blend, so use caution when trying this recipe near them or replace it with Juniper Berry or Citronella Essential Oils.
If you don’t have distilled water, you can use regular water, but the recipe will not last as long. I recommend spraying in an open area. Using this spray in areas like a closed litter box may be overwhelming to your pet.
What I love about this recipe

- It’s portable size making it easy to bring it wherever your pet goes.
- Ginger Essential Oil’s ability to counteract strong odors.
- Peace and Quiet Blend adding a calming atmosphere to any room.
