I remember back when I was a kid and a Halloween party purely meant candy and dressing up. Of course, Halloween is supposed to be scary, but just like most little girls, I liked dressing up in princess or fairy costumes! This is probably the reason why this scary holiday was not as scary in our neighborhood.
Now that I think about it, Halloween is supposed to be the spookiest time of the year.
Despite my non-scary costumes, our neighborhood trick or treaters still made Halloween spooky enough for the kiddos. Houses covered with cobwebs, scarecrows sitting upright in their gardens, carved pumpkin heads outside their doors, and the teenagers somehow dressed so eerily! Everything just added to the flare that was Halloween! Nowadays, my family and I try to be as kid-friendly spooky as possible during Halloween, just so we don’t scare the little ones too much, but we still try our best to put in an effort!
