I love how versatile this shave butter is. I use this on my legs, and my husband uses this for his face! Plus, it can double as a soap. Such an awesome recipe!!

What’s in This DIY Shave Butter?

Melt and Pour Glycerin Soap

The melt and pour glycerin soap helps the shave butter achieve that smooth glide and keeps the recipe from being too thick. The soap is also naturally cleansing and moisturizing for the skin.

Water

We added water to this recipe to keep it from being too thick and heavy. Water helps the shave butter achieve a softer consistency for easy application.

Coconut Oil

Aside from being very hydrating and nourishing, Coconut Oil helps create a very creamy and fluffy shave butter.

Geogard ECT Preservative (Optional)

Since we used water in this recipe, it is best to use an all-natural preservative like Geogard ECT to extend the recipe’s shelf life.

Cypress Essential Oil

Cypress Essential Oil has powerful antimicrobial properties that can soothe various skin conditions like acne, rashes, and rosacea. It also has a calming aroma that eases stress.

Head Soothing Essential Oil Blend

Though initially formulated to soothe headaches, Head Soothing Essential Oil Blend is also infused with essential oils that work well for the skin.

Things to Remember When Using This Recipe

Always dilute an essential oil when using it on the skin. This essential oil recipe is unlikely to cause skin irritation when diluted properly. If the oil has been oxidized (left with the cap off for long periods of time) it is more likely to cause skin irritation. Check out this dilution chart for diluting this essential oil properly.

Some essential oil recipes are not generally safe to use if you are pregnant. Consult your doctor prior to use.

This recipe is safe to use with kids aged 2+.
