What’s in This Menthol Chest Rub
Solid Coconut Oil
We all know the amazing effects of Solid Coconut Oil on the skin. We love using coconut oil in lip balms, moisturizers, and other recipes as it gives a solid, balm-like consistency to the recipe but also easily melts when applied topically.
Almond Oil
Almond Oil is the other carrier oil we used in this recipe. It helps dilute the essential oils to make it safe to apply on the skin. Like coconut oil, it is highly moisturizing and helps promote healthy skin.
Beeswax
Simply Earth’s 100% pure Beeswax is sulfate-free! It is included in this recipe to help solidify the rub.
Menthol Crystals
Menthol Crystals is the main ingredient that gives this menthol rub that cooling effect on the skin. This all-natural product is derived from peppermint plants and is a commonly used ingredient in DIY recipes like this one.
Eucalyptus Essential Oil
Eucalyptus Essential Oil (Globulus) has immune-stimulatory properties1 that help boost your immune system which can help prevent illness from coming your way.
Eucalyptus Essential Oil has such amazing properties that we made sure to include it in our list of the Top 9 Essential Oils for Cold And Flu Season.

Things to Remember When Using This Rub
Always dilute an essential oil when using it on the skin. This essential oil recipe is unlikely to cause skin irritation when diluted properly. If the oil has oxidized (been left with the cap off for long periods of time,) it is more likely to cause skin irritation. Check out this dilution chart for diluting this essential oil properly.
