Want to start your day off right? Your morning routine has the potential to make or break your day.
Start your day on a cheerful note with our Cheery DIY Body Wash recipe!
Most body washes can’t check all the boxes for what the products I use need to be. There are those that smell so good but are full of toxic chemicals; others are great cleansers but the scent is too strong and nauseating or dries your skin up big time. So, I made my own natural body wash that disinfects, moisturizes, and invigorates!
Infused with Lemon and Ylang Ylang Essential Oils, the combination of the citrus and floral aroma of the oils is heavenly! Read on, make the recipe, and spruce up your next shower!
What I Love About This Cheery DIY Body Wash Recipe
When I use this body wash in my morning shower, it helps me start my day in a great mood. It’s such a mood booster–you should try it yourself!

Natural Liquid Soap Base
Made from saponified organic oils instead of synthetic detergents, you can be confident that no artificial and harmful chemicals touch your and your family’s skin. And since it is composed of nothing but plant-based oils, it will nourish your skin as it cleanses it. No more dry flaky skin from strong soaps.
Lemon Essential Oil
First, I want to point out the strong bright lemony scent of Lemon Essential Oil that uplifts and promotes mental clarity. I do love it when the products I’m using are also contributing positively to my mood, don’t you? Lemon Essential Oil’s antimicrobial properties will clean your skin naturally. And having antiseptic qualities, antioxidants, and vitamin C, it will help treat, exfoliate, and clear your skin. What a treat!
Ylang Ylang Essential Oil
The sweet, floral, slightly fruity aroma of Ylang Ylang Essential Oil blends perfectly well with Lemon Oil and makes the body wash really smells good. Ylang Ylang Essential Oil has wonderful antibacterial properties making it a very effective cleanser. Moreover, the oil’s antiseptic and anti-inflammatory qualities improve the appearance and health of your skin. This body wash also works well with oily skin as Ylang Ylang can help balance and regulate sebum production.
Cheery Body Wash Recipe Tips
- You can make this soap base thicker by slowly stirring in a 20% salt solution to your desired thickness.
- At first, your soap base will be thick and cloudy after you mix in the oils. This is normal and will clear up in a few hours.
- Some essential oil may separate from the soap base. It’s good practice to shake this soap recipe before using it.
- When testing this recipe I found that 15 drops worked well. However, you may want to start with using just 5 drops of Ylang Ylang Essential Oil for a less floral aroma. I recommend starting with that amount and then adding up to 15 drops.
