There’s something luxurious about a body butter – we all deserve a little pampering occasionally, right? Not only is it soothing for your skin, but it’s affordable and easy to make. With the delicate mixture of essential oils and natural ingredients, you’ll have smooth, nourished skin that glows from the inside out.
What is Body Butter?
Body butter has been a game-changer in the world of skincare. If you’re looking for hydrated, soft, and nourished skin, this product is precisely what you need. Formulated from pure skincare butter such as shea and cocoa butter, it is the perfect alternative to regular lotion, primarily because of its intense moisturizing effects. Whether it’s your face or feet, body butter can soothe dry skin all over.
Lotion vs. Body Butter
While both are great options for hydrating your skin, some differences exist. Lotion is a blend of water and oil, creating a light and silky texture that feels great on the skin. However, it needs to be used up relatively quickly due to the potential for bacterial growth. On the other hand, body butter is made exclusively with butter and oils, resulting in a thick and dense texture that delivers ultimate moisture and normally has a longer shelf life. Choosing a lotion vs. a body butter depends on your skin type and what hydration level you need.

1 Tbsp body oil base
1/2 Tbsp coconut oil (solid)
10 drops Relief Essential Oil Blend
10 drops Juniper Berry Essential Oil
10 drops Lavender (Bulgarian) Essential Oil
- FROM YOUR HOME
1oz jar
Directions
- Melt together the mango butter, body oil base, and coconut oil in a double boiler or a microwave.

If it’s hard and crumbly, add a 1/4 tsp of carrier oil, remelt the body butter, and repeat steps 2-3. If your body butter is too soft, add 1/4 tsp of coconut oil, remelt the body butter, and repeat steps 2-3.
- Store the body butter in a sealable container.
- To use, apply to dry skin to help soften it and lock in moisture.
Notes
- Tip: melt 1 tsp of cetyl alcohol to make your whipped body butter silkier and creamier!
How to Store Your Whipped Body Butter
Before you dive into this recipe, let us guide you on how to store it properly. Our whipped body butter is best kept in a sealable container in a cool and dry place. Since the butter is made of oil and contains no added preservatives, it is prone to melting if left out in the heat. Try storing it at room temperature or in the fridge to keep the texture intact.
