What’s in This Face Cream Recipe?
Almond Oil
Almond Oil will make your products softer and will help create a smooth, velvety texture to your face cream. Additionally, it acts as an effective moisturizer, deeply nourishing the skin without clogging pores, making it suitable for various skin types. Almond oil in face creams promotes healthy skin by providing essential nutrients and hydration, contributing to a radiant and supple complexion.
Coconut Oil (Solid)
Solid Coconut Oil offers a range of valuable benefits. It melts on the skin and provides exceptional moisturizing properties, effectively softening and locking in moisture. Additionally, coconut oil supports the skin’s natural healing processes, making it an ideal component for indulgent and nourishing face creams.
Emulsifying Wax
Emulsifying Wax plays a crucial role in skincare formulations by enabling the binding of oils and water, creating hydrating products with a rich, creamy texture and consistent emulsion. This allows for the effective integration of various beneficial ingredients, contributing to the overall quality and performance of the face cream.
Beeswax
Beeswax acts as a natural thickening agent, contributing to the rich texture of skincare products. Additionally, beeswax forms a protective barrier on the skin, aiding in moisture retention and shielding the skin from environmental stressors, making it an indispensable component in high-quality face creams.
Copaiba Essential Oil
Copaiba Essential Oil is an excellent addition to luxurious face creams due to its ability to reduce the appearance of blemishes. This natural ingredient promotes clear, smooth skin, and contributes to a youthful, radiant glow. When combined in skincare recipes, Copaiba Essential Oil can help maintain clean and clear skin while reducing the visibility of blemishes.
Geranium Essential Oil
Geranium Essential Oil is a prized ingredient in luxurious face creams for its multifaceted benefits. Renowned for its skin-tightening properties, this essential oil contributes to a firmer, youthful complexion. Its soothing attributes are beneficial in calming the skin and minimizing the appearance of redness, making it a valuable addition to premium skincare formulations.
Lemon Essential Oil
Lemon Essential Oil is a sought-after ingredient in luxurious face creams for its brightening properties and ability to reduce the appearance of breakouts. This natural component has been widely recognized for its holistic skincare benefits, including its refreshing citrus aroma that uplifts the mood and its potential to soothe stress. Furthermore, Lemon Essential Oil is renowned for its astringent, antimicrobial, and toning properties, making it a valuable addition to premium skincare recipes.
Distilled Water
Distilled water is crucial in luxurious face creams, valued for purity and neutral pH. It is the ideal base for various formulations, free from heavy water minerals that could affect the cream’s efficacy. This ingredient provides a clean canvas for the inclusion of other beneficial components, ensuring the overall quality and performance of the face cream.
Vegetable Glycerin (optional)
Vegetable Glycerin is a highly coveted ingredient in luxurious face creams for its exceptional moisturizing and hydrating properties. This natural humectant is known for attracting and retaining moisture, effectively keeping the skin hydrated and supple. Its biodegradable nature adds to its appeal as a sustainable skincare ingredient, making it a valuable component in premium face creams.
Geogard ECT Preservative
Geogard ECT is a natural preservative gaining popularity as an ingredient in all-natural recipes. It offers broad-spectrum protection against bacteria, yeast, and molds, ensuring the integrity and safety of the product. Moreover, being eco-friendly and free from parabens, phenoxyethanol, isothiazolones, and formaldehyde, Geogard ECT aligns with the preferences of consumers seeking natural and sustainable skincare solutions.
Things to Remember When Using This Recipe
Always dilute an essential oil when using it on the skin. This essential oil recipe is unlikely to cause skin irritation when diluted properly. If the oil has oxidized (been left with the cap off for long periods of time), it is more likely to cause skin irritation. Check out this dilution chart for diluting this essential oil properly.

Luxurious Face Cream Recipe
Luxurious Face Cream Recipe
Time: 10 mins
Shelf Life: 9 months
Yield: 4fl oz
Ingredients
- FROM YOUR BOX
1 Tbsp almond oil
2 tsp coconut oil (solid)
2 tsp emulsifying wax
¼ tsp beeswax
10 drops Copaiba Essential Oil
7 drops Geranium Essential Oil
7 drops Lemon Essential Oil
- FROM YOUR HOME
¼ cup distilled water
¼ tsp vegetable glycerin (optional) 🛒
~18 drops Geogard ECT Preservative* 🛒
4oz jar 🛒
- SPECIAL TOOLS
Food thermometer
Hand mixer (or similar tool)
Directions
- In a double boiler or a microwave, using short intervals, melt together almond oil, coconut oil, emulsifying wax, and beeswax until it melts.
- Mix the vegetable glycerin with the water (optional).
- Heat the water until it reaches the same temperature as your oil mixture. Both should be close to 150°F. Reheat or allow mixtures to cool as necessary.
- Once both mixtures are at the same temperature, place the hand mixer in the water mixture and stir on a low setting. While stirring, slowly add oil mixture and blend for 1-3 minutes until thoroughly blended.
- The mixture will thicken to a lotion consistency as the mixture cools. Once it has fully cooled, add essential oils and stir thoroughly. Add preservatives according to the instructions on the label (optional).
- Pour into a 4oz jar or lotion pump container.
Notes
- You use emulsifying wax in this recipe to create an emulsion between oil and water. This will only work if your oil and water mixtures are similar in temperature. Your lotion will separate over time if they are more than 5-10 degrees apart.
- This lotion is excellent for dry to normal skin types. For oily skin, I recommend swapping the coconut oil for mango butter, and the almond oil for jojoba oil for a lighter skin feel. For very dry skin, I recommend swapping the coconut oil for shea butter for more moisturizing benefits.
Tips to Extend Your Face Cream’s Shelf Life
- Use a preservative, like Simply Earth’s Geogard ECT. It’s easy to use, allowing your recipe to last several months.
- Make sure you’re making your recipe in a clean environment. Wipe down your tools, surfaces, and bowls with rubbing alcohol before you get started to ensure a clean environment.
- Store your product in the fridge if you’re not using a preservative. This can help slow microbial growth, and use it within 12 days.
- Using a pump bottle rather than a jar to store your lotion can support a better shelf life. While a pump bottle stays closed, a jar is repeatedly opened and exposed to the air, which can introduce microbes. If using a jar, remove the lotion with a spoon instead of your fingers to avoid introducing bacteria to your product.
