Lemon Drop Cupcake Melt & Pour Soap Recipe

Ingredients

  • For The Base (FROM YOUR BOX)
  • 18 oz Shea Butter Melt and Pour Soap Base

  • 1 Tbsp Yellow Gold Mica Powder

  • 75 drops Frankincense Essential Oil

  • 135 drops Lemon Essential Oil

  • 12 Cavity Round Soap Mold

  • For the Lemon Drop Topping
  • 6 oz Shea Butter Melt and Pour Soap Base

  • 1 tsp Yellow Gold Mica Powder

  • For the Soap Frosting
  • 3oz Melt and Pour Soap Base

  • 1 Tbsp SCI Powder

  • 1/2 tsp Geogard ECT Preservative

  • FROM YOUR HOME
  • 4 Tbsp cornstarch

  • 2/3 cup water

  • 🥄 Special Tools
  • Piping bag and nozzle

Directions

  • For The Base
  • Cut the Melt and Pour Soap Base into 1-inch cubes. Melt in the microwave using 30-second intervals, stirring intermittently, or in a double boiler.
  • Add mica powder and essential oil and stir to mix.
  • Pour the soap into the mold and allow it to set. While the soap is setting, make the lemon drop embeds.
  • For the Lemon Drop Embed
  • Cut the Melt and Pour Soap Base into 1-inch cubes. Melt in the microwave using 30-second intervals, stirring intermittently, or in a double boiler.
  • Add mica powder and stir to mix.
  • Add the cornstarch 1 Tbsp at a time, stirring between each addition. Knead the soap mixture with your hands into a dough while the soap is still warm but no longer hot. Shape the mixture into 12 round lemon shapes by rolling the soap dough into your hand.
  • Set the lemon drops aside to cool and set.
  • For the Soap Frosting
  • Prepare an ice bath by adding some ice to a large bowl.
  • Cut the Melt and Pour Soap Base into 1-inch cubes.
  • Combine the melt & pour soap base, water, and SCI powder into a medium pot and bring it to a boil.
  • Remove from heat and place the pot in the ice bath. Stir the soap base as it cools. When the soap has cooled but is still liquid, add the preservative. It will seem like the recipe has failed at first, but suddenly, it will thicken up to a frosting-like consistency.
  • Pour the soap frosting into a piping bag with a piping nozzle. Spritz the top of your soaps with isopropyl alcohol for best adhesion. Then, top your soap base with the soap frosting. The soap will harden as you work, so you’ll want to do this quickly. After you pipe the soap, it will continue to harden. The soap frosting can be used like any other soap, creating fun, sudsy bubbles.

Tips for Customization

Customizing your Lemon Drop cupcake soap is a fantastic way to make your creations even more unique and delightful! Here are some tips to elevate them:

  1. Add a Touch of Shimmer: Sprinkle a small amount of cosmetic-grade mica powder or biodegradable glitter onto the frosting before it fully hardens. This will give your soaps a shimmering, luxurious finish that catches the light beautifully.
  2. Play with Colors: Experiment layering the soap base in complementary, citrus-inspired shades. For example, you can create a base of sunny yellow and add a thin layer of soft orange or lime green for a multi-dimensional look. Be sure to use skin-safe colorants for the best results.
  3. Mix Essential Oil Blends: While lemon and frankincense essential oils are invigorating, pair them with other essential oils like lavender for a calming twist or peppermint for a refreshing burst. Combine your oils thoughtfully to create unique, custom scents that match your personality or mood.
  4. Adjust Frosting Consistency: If you want more intricate designs with your frosting, adjust the consistency by waiting a little longer to thicken further. For smoother, softer swirls, use the frosting while it’s slightly more pliable. Practice different piping techniques to discover your signature style.

Personalizing your soap cupcakes adds a layer of creativity to the process and ensures every batch is as beautiful and distinctive as it is functional!
