Washing Soda
Washing Soda is a very powerful and safe cleaner! It is non-toxic, but it is not safe to ingest.
Borax
Borax is generally regarded as a safe cleaning agent! It can be harmful if inhaled in large quantities or ingested. Follow the instructions on the box carefully and you will have a natural and safe cleaning product!
Epsom Salt
Epsom Salt has natural abrasive properties that aid in cleaning! Most people associate epsom salt with a bath, but it is good for so much more than just that!
White Vinegar
White Vinegar is a natural and non-toxic cleaning agent that works on just about every surface if diluted properly.

Homemade Dishwashing Detergent Recipe
Homemade Dishwashing Detergent Powder Recipe
Ingredients
1 cup Washing Soda*
1 cup Borax*
1/4 cup Epsom Salt*
1/4 cup White Vinegar*
10 drops Nutmeg Essential Oil
10 drops Lemon Essential Oil
Directions
- Mix the washing soda, Borax, and Epsom Salt in a small bowl.
- Then mix your white vinegar with the dry ingredients. Be careful, it will fizz a bit so you have to stir quickly until the consistency is like wet sand.
- Then add 10 drops of Nutmeg Essential Oil and 10 drops of Lemon Essential Oil.
- Store in an airtight container. To use, add two tablespoons per dishwasher load.
Notes
- Tip: If you have hard water or notice your dishes are cloudy, fill one of your cups in the top rack of your dishwasher with ½ cup of white vinegar for cloud free dishes. Enjoy naturally clean dishes!
