Dryer Sheet Hack: Essential Oil Recipe

Dryer sheets are great to use when doing laundry. It softens the clothes, reduces static, and provides a wonderful aroma.

However, concerns have been raised about how safe these aromatic sheets are, especially because they contain artificial fragrances. Various studies1,2 reported some adverse health effects from laundry product fragrances such as asthma attacks, skin problems, migraine attacks, and eye and airways irritation.

If you’re a big dryer sheet user and just can’t let them go, make your own reusable dryer sheets with essential oils instead! You won’t be exposed to harmful fragrances and you can even save money. You’re going to fall in love with these dryer sheets!

Vinegar

You can’t do natural household cleaning without vinegar! Even in laundry, vinegar is a great product to use. It is used to soften clothes and doesn’t leave a smell.

Tangerine Essential Oil

The fresh and citrusy scent of Tangerine Essential Oil is something you’ll love on your clothes. Thanks to limonene, a natural component of this oil, it also contains natural cleaning properties.

Clean & Fresh Essential Oil Blend

Infused with Fir Needle, Neroli, Lemon, and Grapefruit essential oils, Clean & Fresh Essential Oil Blend also provides cleaning effects and a wonderful aroma of outdoors and citrus.

Thyme Essential Oil

Thyme Essential Oil will disinfect your clothes naturally. And unlike commercial dryer sheets that can cause asthma, thyme can even support healthy respiration.

Natural Solubilizer

To properly combine the essential oils with vinegar, use a natural solubilizer. Someone who constantly makes DIY essential oil recipes must have this at hand.

Things to Remember When Using This Recipe

Always dilute an essential oil when using it on the skin. This essential oil recipe is unlikely to cause skin irritation when diluted properly. If the oil has oxidized (been left with the cap off for long periods of time,) it is more likely to cause skin irritation. Check out this dilution chart for diluting this essential oil properly.
