What Is the 3-in-1 Balm Trend?
If you’ve spent time in the clean beauty world, you’ve probably seen the buzz around multitasking balm trios—products that offer a natural glow, a hint of color, and a soft shimmer, all in one easy stick. They’re like a mini makeup kit you can swipe on in seconds.
The best part? These balms are super versatile. Use them on your cheeks, lips, or even eyelids for that fresh, dewy look we all love.
Why Make Your Own Beauty Balm Trio?

I get it—those multitasking balm trios are gorgeous! But the price tag? Not so much.
Making your own means:
✨ Saving money — DIY is way cheaper!
Instead of paying a premium for brand names and fancy packaging, you’re investing in raw ingredients that go a long way. A few simple ingredients can make multiple batches—so your cost per balm is just a fraction of store-bought versions.
🌿 Knowing exactly what’s inside — no weird fillers or preservatives.
When you DIY, you control every ingredient. No hidden chemicals, artificial fragrances, or harsh preservatives. Just pure, skin-loving ingredients—perfect for sensitive skin and clean beauty lovers.
🎨 Customize Scents, Colors & Textures — Make It Your Balm
Love a certain scent? Prefer a softer texture or bolder color? DIY lets you tailor everything to your vibe. Add essential oils, tweak firmness, or mix pigments to match your mood—it’s beauty your way.
🌎 Be Eco-Friendly — Choose Reusable Packaging & Skip the Waste
Commercial balms often come in plastic or excessive packaging. With DIY, you can reuse small glass jars, tins, or compostable containers to keep your routine low-waste and planet-friendly.
Plus, mixing up your own balm is fun and satisfying—kind of like a mini self-care ritual that ends with a beautiful, natural product you made yourself!
What’s In This Beauty Balm Recipe?

🥭 Mango Butter
A luxurious, creamy butter that melts beautifully into your skin, delivering intense hydration and nourishment. Mango Butter helps create a smooth, velvety texture in your balm, making it perfect for soft, glowing skin without any greasy feel.
🥥 Coconut Oil (Solid)
Known for its moisturizing and antimicrobial properties, Coconut Oil adds a creamy, nourishing consistency to the balm. It helps keep your skin hydrated while giving the balm a smooth texture that melts on contact.
🧴 Cetyl Alcohol
This natural fatty alcohol acts as a thickener and emulsifier, helping to give your balm a silky, stable texture. Cetyl Alcohol ensures the balm spreads easily and feels lightweight, so it won’t clog pores or leave a heavy residue.
🌰 Almond Oil
A light yet deeply nourishing oil packed with vitamins A and E. Almond Oil absorbs quickly, leaving your skin feeling soft and supple, while helping to soothe dryness and improve overall skin tone—ideal for sensitive or dry skin types.
🪙 Jojoba Oil
Closely resembling your skin’s own sebum, Jojoba Oil moisturizes deeply without feeling oily or heavy. It helps balance the skin’s natural oils, protects against dryness, and gives the balm a smooth glide during application.
✨ Mica Powder
Mica Powders are natural mineral powders that add beautiful shimmer and color to your balm. Pearl mica gives a subtle, radiant glow, while fuchsia brings a vibrant pop of pink—perfect for adding dimension and a natural flush to your cheeks and lips.
🌿 Essential Oils
Essential Oils not only smell amazing but offer skin-loving benefits too. From calming and grounding to uplifting and refreshing, they add a personalized touch that elevates your balm into a mini aromatherapy moment.
🏺 DIY Mineral Make-Up Base
A customizable Makeup Base that lets you create your own makeup perfectly matched to your skin tone and personality. It’s lightweight, buildable, and made with all-natural ingredients—giving you a natural-looking finish without feeling heavy or cakey.
❤️ Red Iron Oxide
A natural, earthy pigment that adds warm, rosy hues to your balm. Red Iron Oxide is fantastic for creating a healthy flush on cheeks and lips, mimicking that just-pinched glow that looks radiant and natural.
🤎 Brown Iron Oxide
This rich, natural pigment adds depth and warmth to your color palette. It’s perfect for creating subtle contouring effects or enhancing the natural warmth of your complexion.

Customization Ideas

Feeling creative? Here’s how to make the balm truly your own:
🌰 Swap shea butter for cocoa butter for a richer, more decadent balm.
🌿 Use different carrier oils to match your skin type—argan for dry skin, jojoba for oily skin, or rosehip for anti-aging.
🌸 Experiment with essential oil blends—try lavender + chamomile for calm, or grapefruit + mint for an energizing boost.
🎨 Use the recipe’s color as a starting point and customize the mix until you find the perfect hue that complements your skin and style.
Remember: a little goes a long way with mica and pigments—start small and build up!
How to Use Your Beauty Balm Trio

Here’s how to get the most out of your new favorite balms:
💖 Glow Balm:
To use, apply the balm to your face and lips using clean fingers—avoiding the delicate eye area. Spread it around to moisturize and create a natural, glowing complexion. You might notice a slight, temporary redness as the balm stimulates circulation, but don’t worry—it will fade within a few minutes. This glow balm also works beautifully as a nourishing base for your DIY makeup.
🌹 Flush Balm:
Start with clean, moisturized skin, then gently apply the flush balm to the apples of your cheeks, lips, and eyelids for a fresh, healthy flush. (Tip: If you want to use the flush balm on your eyelids, be sure to omit essential oils from the recipe to keep it gentle for that sensitive area.)
✨ Shimmer Balm:
Use a tiny amount of shimmer balm on the high points of your face where the sun naturally hits—like the top of your forehead, bridge of your nose, cheekbones, and along your brow bone. Blend well for a subtle, light-catching glow that enhances your natural radiance.
Perfect for quick touch-ups, day-to-night looks, or whenever you want that fresh-from-the-spa glow.
