Not only will your candle float delicately on water, but it will also fill your space with a mesmerizing fragrance that invokes the raw beauty of nature. Are you ready to dive into the steps and make your Volcano Floating Candle? Let’s get started!
What’s in This Floating Candle Recipe
Fractionated Coconut Oil
Fractionated Coconut Oil is a key component in this Volcano Floating Candle, acting as the perfect fuel for your candle. Its lightweight and liquid form makes it an excellent choice for ensuring a consistent, even burn. It blends seamlessly with essential oils to enhance the candle’s fragrance. If you don’t have fractionated coconut oil on hand, don’t worry! You can easily replace it with cooking oils, which also serve as effective fuel options for your candle.
Lava Essential Oil Blend
The Lava Essential Oil Blend is the heart of this Volcano Floating Candle, infusing it with a delightful and memorable scent. This blend features a fruity aroma that is uplifting and energizing, making it perfect for bringing vitality to any space. Infused with citrus and tropical fruit scents, the Lava Essential Oil Blend turns your candle into a fragrant getaway, embodying a volcanic paradise.
Wide Mouth Glass Jar (any size)
A wide-mouth glass jar is essential for safely showcasing your Volcano Floating Candle. The wide mouth allows the candle to float freely, ensuring a stable and even burn. The glass’s durability provides a safe, heat-resistant vessel, allowing the beauty of the flame to shine through unobstructed.
Decorations (optional)
Decorations add a personal touch to your Volcano Floating Candle, elevating it from a simple light source to stunning decor. While optional, we highly recommend not skipping this! You can customize your floating candle with small pebbles, glitter, flower petals, or waterproof beads. The key is to ensure that your decorations will sink safely to the bottom of the jar and stay out of the flame’s path to avoid any hazards.

tip from katie
- If you don’t have fractionated coconut oil on hand, you can use any kind of liquid cooking oil. Your candle will burn until it is extinguished or the candle runs out of oil. Based on the container you use, you may want to add more or less oil. For every 2 Tbsp of carrier oil, add 15 drops of essential oil. Remember to stir the essential oil and carrier oil together before adding it to your candle.
How To Customize Your Floating Candle
One of the most delightful aspects of crafting your own Floating Candle is the opportunity to personalize it to your exact preferences. Customizing the essential oils allows you to experiment with a variety of scents. Simply mix your favorite essential oils with the fractionated coconut oil to create a personalized fragrance.
Additionally, you can get creative with decorations—think small pebbles, seashells, glitter, flower petals, or waterproof beads—to elevate the visual appeal of your candle.
Lastly, the jar you select plays a crucial role in the final look of your centerpiece. Opt for a wide-mouth glass jar or experiment with jars of different shapes and sizes. Customize the outside with paint, ribbons, or twine for an added touch of flair.
By tailoring the essential oils, decorations, and jar to your own style, you can create your own floating candle that truly reflects your unique taste. Happy crafting!
