Unleash your hair’s potential with our Happy Hair Styling Wax Recipe – a natural, DIY hair care game-changer!

We’re thrilled to share the secret behind achieving that perfect, trendy slicked-back hairstyle or smoothing out those pesky flyaways—all with a natural touch. Our Happy Hair Wax Recipe is a game-changer for anyone looking to add flair to their hair routine. It is suitable for all hair types. Our formula stands out by ensuring your hair isn’t just styled to perfection but also nourished with natural ingredients.

What’s in This Hair Styling Wax Recipe?

Coconut Oil

The first superstar ingredient in our Happy Hair Styling Wax is Coconut Oil. Renowned for its deep moisturizing properties, coconut oil penetrates the hair shaft to hydrate and condition. This helps smooth your hair, reduces frizz, prevents flyaways, and improves overall hair health.

Beeswax

Next up in our recipe is Beeswax. Beeswax is the perfect base for our hair styling wax, offering a protective coating to your hair strands. This natural ingredient helps hold the hairstyle in place and forms a barrier against environmental stressors.

Happy Joy Essential Oil Blend

An optional but highly recommended addition to our Happy Hair Styling Wax is the Happy Joy Essential Oil Blend. A few drops of this uplifting oil leaves your hair smelling fresh and vibrant and provides an aromatherapy experience that can elevate your mood throughout the day.

Feel free to swap this with an essential oil for those who prefer a different fragrance. Our recipe’s versatility allows you to customize the scent to match your preference, ensuring your hair looks good and smells exactly the way you like it.

Push-Up Paperboard Tube

For those who prefer a mess-free application, we recommend using a Push-Up Paperboard Tube. This innovative packaging option eliminates the hassle of getting wax on your hands during application. It’s eco-friendly, easy to use, and perfect for those on-the-go moments when you need a quick hair fix. If you go with this paperboard tube, make sure to double the recipe so the tube is filled all the way. Otherwise, you can store the wax in a 2oz jar without needing to double the recipe.

Things to Remember When Using This Recipe

Always dilute an essential oil when using it on the skin. This essential oil recipe is unlikely to cause skin irritation when diluted properly. If this oil has been oxidized (left with the cap off for long periods of time) it is more likely to cause skin irritation. Check out this dilution chart for diluting this essential oil properly.

If you are pregnant, consult your doctor prior to use.

This essential oil recipe is safe to use with kids aged 10+.

Happy Hair Wax Recipe

Time: 5 mins
Shelf Life: 1 year
Yield: 2.5 fl oz

Ingredients

  • FROM YOUR BOX
  • 5 Tbsp coconut oil (solid)

  • 2 tsp beeswax

  • 18 drops Happy Joy Essential Oil Blend

  • Homemade paperboard tube

Directions

  • Heat the coconut oil and beeswax together in a double boiler or a bowl in the microwave using short intervals until the mixture has just melted.
  • Add the essential oils and stir.
  • Pour the mixture into the paperboard tube and allow it to cool.

tip from katie

  • Before pouring the wax into the tube, let the mixture cool a bit (around 150ºF). If it’s too hot when you pour it, the mixture may leak out of the bottom of the tube. I like to set the tube on a small piece of parchment paper or paper towel before I pour it to help clean up spills easily.

How to Use The Hair Styling Wax

To use the Happy Hair Styling Wax, scoop a small amount, roughly the size of a pea, with your fingertips. Rub the wax between your palms until it’s slightly warmed and easier to spread. Apply evenly through your hair, focusing on areas where you wish to add shine or smooth down flyaways. If you are using the push-up paperboard tube, simply glide the wax stick along your hair. The wax can be used on damp and dry hair. For a stronger hold, increase the amount gradually, ensuring not to overapply as this may weigh down your hair.
