I’m lucky enough to have a die-cutting machine from my teaching days. This machine is super fun to use to make your own labels. With a die-cutting machine, it’s possible to have your machine write out the label, cut your label, or print and cut your label.
I have a Cricut Explore machine, so I will be using that to explain how to make your own labels using a die-cut machine.
How to Write Your Labels with Die-Cut Machine
This method creates a more handmade look than using the same method with a traditional printer. With this method, you can use generic pre-cut labels, tags, or any other pre-cut material.

MATERIALS NEEDED
Design Space
Generic Pre-Cut Label Sheet
Die Cut Marker or Pen
Directions
- With Design Space open, design your label, using your pre-cut label for the size. Change the operation on the top right to “Pen”. Note that Cricut will automatically convert the font to pen. Unless you purchase a font from Cricut specifically for writing, the Cricut Pen function will automatically write out the outlines of the font, rather than a single-line font.
- Load your Cricut Mat with your label sheet.
- Click “Make It”
- On this window, arrange your labels so that they will line up properly with your pre-cut label sheet as you placed it on the mat.
- Click “Create” and let your machine do its thing!
